Your wish is our command: readers’ advisory is simply too big to be contained to a half day. May we present… RA in a Day! It’s about boosting your confidence, showing you how much you know, exploring ways to better serve your patrons as readers advisors, and having lots of fun at the same time.
This year, we are back in downtown Vancouver, and we are excited about our workshop with Joan Costa and Diana Twiss: how to do better readers’ advisory for patrons learning English – tips and tricks and lexile levels. Joan is the former editor of the Westcoast Reader, a newspaper for English-as-an-additional-language learners with low literacy skills, and Diana works for Decoda Literacy Solutions in Vancouver.
We are also honoured to have Dr. Brenna Clarke Gray from Douglas College and Book Riot talk to us about gender and diversity in publishing, and the impact of technology on readers. Plus, there will be more Speed-Dating Through the Genres (Post-apocalyptic fiction! Personal Finance! Classic fiction for vocabulary and comprehension-building! Feminist memoirs!), plus a Bookslam demo.
Registration opens on September 14 at 10am and closes at noon on October 7th.
Maximum registration is 100.

Cancellations received by email to firstname.lastname@example.org by the registration deadline will receive a refund, less a cancellation fee. Cancellations received after the deadline may not be eligible for a refund.
